Case Aikido Club - Home

What is aikido?

Aikido is a Japanese martial art that, on a physical level, involves joint locks and throws. However Aikido focuses not on punching, kicking or forcefully throwing your opponent, but on using your attacker's energy to gain control and end the situation in a way that is not harmful to you or your attacker.

Case Aikido Club in a Nutshell

Case Aikido Club is a CWRU Sports Club. The club is open to all Case undergraduate students, graduate students, faculty, and staff. No prior experience is necessary.

We practice the Aikido Schools of Ueshiba (ASU) style of aikido. We have an informal relationship with the Cleveland Aikikai for teaching and testing guidance.

Our Head Instructor is Tom Krumroy, a Nidan (second degree blackbelt) from the Cleveland Aikikai.

The club is governed by an elected board of four undergraduate officers

Dues

You can join the club any time simply by showing up to practice. Aikido is a lifelong learning process, not a linear learning plan. You should not feel like it is too late to join just because you may have missed a few classes. There is no "catching up" to do.
